The orchid foundation of Tolima, maintains an "orchidary" where visitors can appreciate 150 extinct species as well as other orchids that are endangered, including the national flower.
The foundation is a non-governmental organization created 12 years ago, and among its objectives is environmental education and raising awareness of the visitors it receives daily.
The beauty of the orchids and the general lush and varied flora in the foundation is open to the public and especially important to schools. It is located in the Dario Echandia part of town about ten minutes away from the city center.

The garden boasts over 500 species of plants, and has 7 Km of nature trails (visitors can choose between a short, flat walk, or a longer, more challenging one). You'll have the chance to see a coca plant, if you've never seen one before.
The gardens are located on the hills northwest of the city and has an area of 60 hectares, of which 49.7 correspond to a sub-Andean forest and the area corresponding garden spot, the rest of hectares have been modified to organize collections and thus give us the criteria of a botanical garden.

COMBEIMA CANYON
The tour begins from the city of Ibague, through an unpaved road but allows the passage of vehicles without a problem. The first stop to be made is at Kilometer 18, where there is a hill with a stone and wood stairs, which lead to its summit. From there you can see a beautiful landscape where you can see the river crossing through the mountains, flowing by gravity and with apparent calm. There are several modest houses around the track, as a result of urbanization and displacement in the country. Intervention is also evident in the mountain area, where there are few patches of forest due to the extension of cultivation. Although this remains meriting climb to the "los Sauces" point of view.

THE BEST VISIT: Combeima Canyon is a place to go camping just 20 minutes by car from Ibague, where the road ends, there is a splendid place to camp with a beautiful view of the canyon, the sound of the river and an impressive wall exposed rock (see photo). You only need a tent, a good book and a friendly company to go for a weekend of urban chaos in which the majority of the Colombian population, as well as pure breathing air with breezes from the snow that makes sense of not wanting to get out of there.

ECOLOGICAL HIKE: One of the attractions to visit Combeima Canyon is the river walk (with the direction of the snow), which is a tributary of many other small rivers.
The tour does not have a road built, but it is a trail made by the residents, along the way, upstream there are several small waterfalls and streams, where water temperature is warm from the heat contained in the interior of the Earth and its proximity to the volcano.

PLACE OF REST AND RELAXATION: After touring part of the river Combeima, you reach two small wooden houses, where you can get "agua de panela"(a hot beverage) with cheese, use the bathroom and a small cabin rental if you do not want to camp with humble characteristics but confortable. The main attraction coming to this place, is to swim in some pools or spa poolsrudimentary made (with sandbags) by people who live there. These can be used for only 500 or 1.500 pesos, (no more than 1 Us dollar), not very significant for people who rent, but serve for maintenance. This is the greatest reward after a long walk across the riverthe weather can be a bit cold and hot water is going to relax.

The San Jorge Botanical Garden are located 5 minutes from downtown Ibagué, via Calambeo in territory adjacent to rural and urban area. The territorial area of the garden is immersed in what once served as the San Jorge farm, owned by Pia Salesian Society, whose total area covered 125 hectares. The gardens are an important part of the historical, cultural and environmental landscape of Ibagué. They add immense value and beauty to the city.
